Madlib, Gentle Giant–Power and the Glory

Gentle Giant-Power and the Glory

This is definitely a top 10 record of all time…Sonically, instrumentally, it can hardly be matched. The song “Power and the Glory” was sampled by Madlib. Imagine King Crimson’s Red mixed with Mahvavishnu Orchestra, Pink Floyd, Herbie Hancock, Santana, and Voivod’s Nothingface. The drums…the drum sound is PERFECT. This is what all drums should sound like.

Tokion: What psych bands do you like?
Madlib: Shit, I like Soft Machine, Gentle Giant, Electric Lucifer… all of that weird stuff. I’ve got crates of psych and prog-rock…

Also playing:”Scarlet” by Lush…remember them? (Probably you don’t) but “Gala” was a decent album! Go 1990s shoegazer!!!  (P.S.–My Bloody Valentine’s “Isn’t Anything” is obviously 100x better than the more acclaimed “Loveless”…)
