The Best Fusion/Jazz/Soul Music Ever: Lonnie Liston Smith

It’s true: also the most relaxing music ever. Check out some mp3s from Lonnie Liston Smith’s Explorations compilation. Truly great: mixing jazz, fusion, prog rock, Rhodes, and analog synths, bass, drums, and guitar, influencing future generations of hip hop, downbeat, house, acid jazz, disco, italo, etc. Some of the best music around. Like mixing the best parts of Arthur Verocai, Joni Mitchell’s more fusion-y tunes, Hiroshima, Sade, etc.

Check out his awesome playing with Pharoah Sanders on this live album from 1971.  Some of the songs kind of remind me of Magma, like the song Jamil…

  1. I’m really enjoying the theme/design of your web site. Do you ever run into any internet browser compatibility problems? A small number of my blog audience have complained about my site not operating correctly in Explorer but looks great in Chrome. Do you have any recommendations to help fix this problem?
